PRME UK & Ireland Steering Committee Elects

 

We are proud to officially announce the election of two new members to the PRME UK & Ireland Steering Committee.

 

 Dr Marc Duffy and Anna Egan, welcome to the PRME UK & Ireland team!

 

Professor Natascha Radclyffe-Thomas, our Chapter Chair, said: "I would personally like to thank all the applicants for the Steering Committee, the number and quality is evidence of a deep commitment to sustainability and responsible management education across the UK and Ireland. I also extend my thanks to all the PRME Leads who took part in the voting, and to Dr Karen Cripps and Jackie Hicken for managing the process so smoothly. I congratulate Anna Egan and Dr Marc Duffy on their election to the Steering Committee and very much look forward to working with them as we look forward to 2025."

Dr Marc Duffy, Ulster University.





Dr Marc Duffy is a former practitioner with management experience in heavy industry, aluminium, iron and steel-making. In industry, he travelled the world as a key account manager for Latin America's metals processing sector. Including prolonged periods working in Mexico, Venezuela and Spain, Marc also worked extensively in China, Thailand, Indonesia, Brazil, Belgium and Finland.

 

Marc returned to academia in 2015 as a Lecturer and to complete a PhD at Sheffield Hallam University in Sheffield Business School. Progressing from Lecturer to Senior Lecturer in Strategic Management, Enterprise and Change, with a focus on applied research, Sustainable and Responsible Business and led Hallam’s commitments to the United Nations, Principles of Responsible Management Commitments (PRME).

 

Marc is now a Lecturer in the Business Engagement Unit at Ulster University, Business School, focusing on our degree apprenticeship programmes, and online courses. He is the inaugural PRME Lead at Ulster University Business School and sits on the UUBS Sustainability Committee.

 

One his main goals as a member of the Steering Committee is to showcase the work of others even further, celebrating and communicate our successes to the widest possible audience.



Anna Egan, Manchester Metropolitan University




Anna Egan is Head of Department for Finance and Economics in Manchester Metropolitan University. She is the current institutional PRME Lead and has championed responsible management education in the variety of roles she has held across the Faculty of Business and Law. Specific areas of focus include the development and launch of an MSc Sustainable Finance, and integration of a core module on Leadership in Sustainable Finance on the flagship MBA. Anna has also previously developed and led a core module on ethics and sustainability across a suite of postgraduate finance programmes and a particular highlight within this has been the interrogation of carbon footprint management with diverse groups of students.

Her teaching and scholarship is focused on the relationship between responsible management and financial decision making, cutting across areas such as investment strategies, ESG reporting and measurement processes.






PRME Chapter UK & Ireland Innovative Pedagogy Seed Funding Competition

 

The PRME UK and Ireland Chapter Seed Funding Competition for Developing Innovative Pedagogic Approaches and Teaching Practices in PRME is currently open!

The initiative was developed in recognition of the fact that financial barriers frequently exist that prevent individuals and groups from putting their innovative ideas into practice. In a bid to help address this, awards up to the value of £1,500 are available. There is no set number of awards across the Innovative Pedagogy Seed Funding Competition, but rather a total funding pot has been established.

The closing date for applications is 10th January 2025 at 5pm.

PRME Chapter UK & Ireland Innovative i5 and Climate Play Event

 

The next in our series of i5 events will be taking place on Monday 2nd of December at UWE Bristol, Frenchay Campus. The event is offered by the South West and South Wales Local Network and offers participants the chance to learn about playful pedagogy and PRME i5 (https://i5.unprme.org/). There will also be a participatory workshop on Climate Play – a LEGO® Serious Play® based climate change engagement process (https://www.climateplay.org/).

PRME Local Meeting: London and South East Network

 

Join the PRME UK & Ireland London and South East Network on December 5 2024, at the Richmond American University, for the annual in-person Local Network meeting.


This is an opportunity to:

·       Learn about the development of the i5 Playbook

·       Explore the i5 Anchoring Assumptions

·       Experience a variety of innovative pedagogical approaches for education for sustainable development.
