The PRME UK & Ireland Chapter is thrilled to announce the winners of the 2025 Developing Innovative Pedagogic Approaches and Teaching Practices in PRME Seed Funding Competition – an initiative designed to foster pedagogic approaches and teaching practices aligned with the United Nations’ Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME).

Cultivating Innovation in Sustainability Education

Now in its sixth year, the competition empowers educators to overcome financial barriers and pilot transformative teaching ideas that advance sustainability, ethics, and responsible leadership.

This year’s theme, “Innovative Pedagogic Approaches for a Sustainable Future”, attracted 36 submissions from 39 member institutions across the UK and Ireland, reflecting the growing commitment to reimagining business education.

Interactive AR (augmented reality) Workshop: Teaching Carbon Markets and Blockchain for Emissions Reduction

Dr Rebecca Yu Li Brunel University of London

I’m absolutely thrilled to receive this award! My project uses augmented reality to transform how students learn about carbon markets, emissions reduction, and blockchain. Instead of just reading about these critical topics, students will step into interactive roles—trading carbon credits, enforcing regulations, and verifying transactions—bringing sustainability concepts to life in a way that’s immersive and unforgettable. This funding makes it possible to push the boundaries of business education, and I can’t wait to see the impact it has on future responsible leaders! - Dr Rebecca Yu Li

Sustainable Mindset Principles in Enterprise Education: A Comprehensive Active Learning Approach

Dr Barbara Tomasella, University of Derby; Dr Richard Howarth, Nottingham Business School; Dr Chris Moon, Middlesex University; Anne Wylie, University of Derby; Michelle Littlemore, Northumbria University, Dr Catherine Brentnall, Manchester Metropolitan University, Orla Kelleher, University of Derby

Supporting responsible management education is why I came to Academia from the industry, so I'm delighted to contribute to the positive impact generated by the PRME community! - Dr Barbara Tomasella

Integrating Finance and Law for Responsible Business Leadership

Dr Isik Akin & Dr Eda Sahin Bath Spa University

Winning this funding is an incredible opportunity for us to develop innovative, real-world case studies that will help bridge the gap between finance, law, and responsible business leadership. By collaborating with SMEs in Bristol and Bath and developing real-world case studies, we aim to equip students with the skills and ethical awareness needed to navigate complex financial and legal landscapes. This project not only reinforces our commitment to PRME principles but also provides valuable open-access resources for educators and students. We are excited to make a meaningful impact on business and law education and inspire future leaders to prioritise ethical and sustainable decision-making. - Dr Isik Akin and Dr Eda Sahin

Co-design for SDG16 pursuit: Using an integrated systems and design thinking approach for tackling the complex issues of individually displaced persons and migration

It will be an exciting journey to engage and empower affected communities to use systems and design thinking to create a sustainable and better future  for immigrants, in alignment with SDG11 - Dr Susanna Chui
