PRME UK and Ireland News Update - 12 January 2022

New Year greetings to all our members in Ireland and the UK. We on the Steering Committee look forward to working with you in the year ahead. We hope to offer a varied and purposeful programme of ways that you and your students can engage with PRME.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all who were active in 2021 in promoting the responsible management education message. That's all of you, of course, in your own institutions. And beyond that, our warm appreciation goes to all who attended and contributed to our Lincoln conference, put in many hours on one of our competition judging panels, attended workshops or made our local networks such hotbeds of PRME activity.

As we get into our stride for 2022, here is a roundup of news you may have missed at the end of last year or may need a quick reminder of now.

PRME MIDLANDS EVENT - WEDNESDAY 19TH JANUARY

The next PRME Midlands regional event is hosted by Aston University on Wednesday, January 19th 2022, 10am to 12.30pm. A hot buffet lunch is available to help you continue your networking once the formal meeting has closed.

The focus of the event is academic research in sustainability. The event will combine opportunities to network locally, share good practice in ERS research, discuss further collaborative projects and gain some useful insights into current research funding avenues.

More details and booking here.

STUDENT WRITING COMPETITION - CLOSING DATE MONDAY 28 FEBRUARY

Our 6th Responsible Business and Management Writing Competition is currently open, offering UG, PG and Alternative Media categories as before. As many of your colleagues will be marking at the moment, please remind them all to look out for and encourage entries. Any work submitted in calendar 2021 (or the early weeks of 2022) is eligible. Full details, prize information and how to enter are here.

We are also seeking to recruit additional judges for the writing competition. Judges should be able to dedicate some 15 hours on a voluntary basis during March and April 2022 , and should be employed by Chapter member schools. If you would like to know more, email prme@brookes.ac.uk

RESEARCH SEED FUNDING AWARDS - CLOSING DATE MONDAY 28 FEBRUARY

Our 4th round of funding awards to support new research projects by faculty on PRME Principles and/or the SDGs, with a focus on innovation and collaboration, is currently open. The competition is for faculty rather than PhD students. Five awards of up to £1,000 each are available, with two reserved for early-career scholars. Full application details are available here.

HOLD THE DATES - DOCTORAL COLLOQUIUM AND ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2022

The University of Hull will be hosting our second Doctoral Colloquium (27 June) and 8th annual conference (28+29 June). The events will be offered in a hybrid manner, offering opportunities for oncampus as well as online participation. Full details of the colloquium and the conference theme and the timetable for paper and workshop proposals will be issued by early February.

HOLD THE DATES - SOS UK ANNUAL SDG TEACH-IN 2022

The Chapter is delighted to support SOS UK's fifth annual SDG Teach In that will take place between Monday 21st February and Friday 4th March 2022.

The annual global campaign delivered by SOS-UK calls on educators to pledge to include the UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development, otherwise known as the SDGs, in their teaching and learning throughout the two weeks, whether through case studies, debate, discussion, groups and more. The 2021 campaign saw nearly 500 educators involve around 50,000 students and we encourage all of you to help enhance their reach in 2022.

With best wishes from the Chapter Steering Committee (details here if you want a reminder of who we are)
