Dimensions of Sustainable Fashion: webinar exclusively for PRME members 8th February 2023 6-8pm (UK)


This free online event is exclusively for students and staff at Universities which are PRME members. Our webinar focuses on different ways to improve sustainability in the fashion and textiles industry, featuring expert speakers on sustainable textiles, fashion rental and no-waste production. In addition to working in the fashion business, all of our speakers have worked in Universities. The second hour of the webinar will include a Q&A and breakout rooms for discussion about sustainable fashion between students from different Universities.


Attendees must use their University email account and have a Zoom account linked to their email address, with access to a microphone to participate in discussions in small breakout rooms. The webinar has been organised jointly by members of the PRME Working Group on Climate Change from Durham University and Coventry University, UK.

Speakers:


Ruth Kelly, Performance Textiles Consultant, founder of Weft x Warp, was formerly Raw Materials Director for Lululemon Women's Wear in Vancouver and a Fabric Technology Manager in the UK and Asia. Ruth has also been a Visiting Lecturer in Supply Chain Management at UK Universities.


Jade McSorley is Co-founder of Loanhood, a start-up fashion rental app based in London and a PhD researcher in Digital Fashion & Sustainability. Jade is also a fashion model and she previously worked at the Fashion Innovation Agency at the London College of Fashion.


Lucas Nardin is Co-founder of Nowa Jeans, a no-waste jeans company based in Porto. Lucas's company uses recycled denim to produce no-waste jeans and jackets: https://nowajeans.com/


Dr Helen Goworek and Dr Jaliyyah Ahmadu-Bello, Leads for Events and Teaching in the international PRME Working Group on Climate Change, who have organised this webinar, will introduce the topics of sustainability and fashion.
